Trityl Olmesartan Medoxomil (CAS: 144690-92-6) is a key intermediate used in the preparation of Olmesartan Medoxomil (CAS: 144689-63-4), an angiotension II receptor antagonist, used in the treatment of hypertension. Olmesartan Medoxomil is a potent and selective angiotensin AT1 receptor inhibitor with IC50 of 66.2 μM. Olmesartan Medoxomil, a prodrug of Olmesartan, is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1) inhibitor that inhibits negative regulatory feedback on renin secretion, decreasing secretion of aldosterone and resulting in decreased peripheral vascular resistance (vasodilation). It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
