Bromoethane can be widely used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, spices, dye industry, is the ethylating agent in organic synthesis, also used as refrigerant and organic solvent. Used as analytical reagent. Used to make pharmaceuticals and as a solvent. Bromoethane was formerly used asa topical anesthetic.
Bromoethane is a colorless liquid, turns pale yellow in the air and in the light.
