Triethylamine (TEA) (CAS: 121-44-8) is an organic compound with chemical formula C6H15N, is a colorless liquid with an ammonia-like odor. Soluble in many organic solvents, including ethanol, acetone, and ether. It is also highly flammable and reacts violently with oxidizing agents. Toxic and highly irritating. Triethylamine has been widely used in various fields of research and industry.
In industry, Triethylamine is mainly used as base, catalyst, solvent and raw material in organic synthesis, widely used in pesticide, pharmaceutical, chemical auxiliaries, synthetic dyes, rubbers and other industry, used as curing agent, inhibitor, preservative and so on.
In the production process of Vinylene Carbonate (VC), Triethylamine can be used as a dechlorination agent, and Triethylamine is also used as an additive to the new lithium salt LiFSi. The lithium segment is driving most of the increased demand.
Triethylamine finds application in reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as a mobile-phase modifier.
Triethylamine is also used as an accelerator activator for rubber, as a propellant, as a corrosion inhibitor, as a curing and hardening agent for polymers and for the desalination of seawater.
Triethylamine used in the pharmaceutical industry, can be used for pharmaceutical synthesis.
