Bis-Tris (CAS 6976-37-0) is a commonly used biological buffer, used in biochemistry and molecular biology. Bis-Tris is an inert, zwitterionic buffer that exhibits only a very small shift in dissociation constant. It is a bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amine and Tris family buffer. Bis-Tris is of an Ultra Pure Grade. Bis-tris methane is an organic tertiary amine with labile protons having a pKa of 6.46 at 25℃. It is an effective buffer between the pH 5.8~7.2. Bis-Tris binds strongly to Cu and Pb ions as well as, weakly, to Mg, Ca, Mn, Co, Ni, Zn and Cd. Bis-Tris is a commonly used biological buffer for very broad usage in biological systems such as diagnostics, electrophoresis and protein based bioprocessing.
