2,2-Dimethoxypropane acts as a dehydrating agent. It is used in histology and considered to be more efficient than ethanol for the dehydration of animal tissue.
2,2-Dimethoxypropane is the key hydroxyl protective agent, dehydrating agent, condensing agent and cyclizing agent in the new development of antibiotic semi-synthesis process.
