FAQ:

Application:

Trimethoxy(propyl)silane, also called Propyltrimethoxysilane, PTMO,  (CAS: 1067-25-0), PTMO is an important starting material for sol-gel processes. It adds a certain amount of organic character to the siloxane network, due to the propyl group in the product. PTMO is often used in conjunction with in order to control the amount of inorganic character of the inorganic network. PTMO contains a propyl group that adds organic character to the products. Trimethoxy(propyl)silane is an alkylalkoxysilane. It has an n-propyl organic group and a trimethoxysilyl inorganic group. Its general applications include: An important material in sol-gel production; Provides a hydrophobic surface treatment for inorganic powders or filler materials; One of the catalyst components for polyolefin production with Ziegler-Natta catalysts; Reacts faster with water than SiSiB® PC5932. Customer may regulate the rate of hydrolysis according to actual application. Trimethoxy(propyl)silane is used as a neutral curing agent in silicone sealant formulations. Generally, this silane is used for crosslinking α,ω-silanol polydimethylsiloxanes in the presence of atmospheric moisture. It is often the main crosslinker of choice for oxime silicone sealants and can be used by itself or in combination with other oxime silanes to provide the sealant with targeted properties (such as desired cure rate, adhesion etc).
