Tiopronin (CAS 1953-02-2) is a novel glycine derivative containing free sulfhydryl groups. Tiopronin is used as antidote against heavy metal poisoning; hepatoprotective; mucolytic.It can activate metabolic enzymes and chelate with toxic substances that hinder HS-enzyme activity, thus detoxifying. For viral hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, heavy metal toxic hepatitis, early treatment of fatty liver and cirrhosis.
