Selectfluor Fluorinating Reagent (CAS: 140681-55-6) is a source of electrophilic fluorine. Selectfluor is very effective, safe, non-toxic, and easy to handle making it a convenient reagent for large scale synthesis. Historically electrophilic fluorinations were done using molecular fluorine (F2) which is very toxic and difficult to handle.
Selectfluor is used as a reagent for electrophilic fluorination and also acts as a selective oxidizing agent. It is a highly effective and versatile source of electrophilic fluorine and also used in the synthesis of organofluorine.
Selectfluor is used as fluorinating agents, proceeding fluorination reaction with electron-rich duplet bond, Silyl enol ether, Lithium enolate and etc. Selectfluor is also used to produce fluoride steroidal drugs.
