Menadione Sodium Bisulfite, also known as Vitamin K3, (CAS: 130-37-0) is a water soluble synthetic naphthoquinone without the isoprenoid side chain and biological activity, but can be converted to active vitamin K2, menaquinone, after alkylation in vivo. It belongs to the Vitamin K class of compounds and these are necessary for the biosynthesis of prothrombin and other blood clotting factors. It is indicated for vitamin K deficiency, hypothrombin haematosis, and natural bleeding in newborns. It is suitable for hemorrhagic diseases caused by vitamin K deficiency, such as neonatal hemorrhage, vitamin K deficiency caused by intestinal malabsorption and hypothrombin promia, etc. Vitamin K3 is essential for effcient blood-clotting and to maintain proper bone calcification. Practically Vitamin K3 assists in the treatment of haemorrhagic-type disease, namely coccidiosis. Vitamin K3 can also revent the haemorrhagic consequences brought about by the administration of sulpha drugs and antibiotics which, by suppressing the fermentation of intestinal bacterial flora reduce the endogenous bacterial systheses of vitamin K3 as family citamin,sufficient adding of vitamin K3 in feed can raise the healthy level if animal especially stress condition.
