Diisopropyl Azodicarboxylate (DIAD) (CAS: 2446-83-5) is the di-isopropyl ester of azodicarboxylic acid. It is used as a reagent in the production of many organic compounds. It is often used in the Mitsunobu reaction where it serves as an oxidizer of triphenylphosphine to triphenylphosphine oxide. It has also been used to generate aza-Baylis-Hillman adducts with acrylates. It can also serve as a selective deprotectant of N-benzyl groups in the presence of other protecting groups. It is sometimes preferred to diethyl azodicarboxylate (DEAD) because it is more hindered, and thus less likely to form hydrazide byproducts.
Diisopropyl Azodicarboxylate can be used as pharmaceutical intermediates, dye intermediates, organic synthesis reagents, rubber and plastic liquid foaming agents, etc.
Diisopropyl Azodicarboxylate is used as an important reagent in the production of many organic compounds. It is used in association with triphenyl phosphine in Mitsunobu reaction of alcohols, acids and amides.
Diisopropyl Azodicarboxylate is used as a liquid foaming agent for vinyl resins. Can be used to make light-colored vinyl foam. It has a uniform microporous structure. Depending on the formula and processing conditions, closed-cell or open-cell foams can be obtained.
