1,3-Dichloro-5,5-Dimethylhydantoin (DCDMH) (CAS: 118-52-5) is a new type of chlorinated imide disinfectant and bleaching agent, mainly used as water treatment agent, disinfectant, fruit preservative, etc. It has the characteristics of high efficiency, broad spectrum, safety and stability, and can strongly kill fungi, bacteria, viruses and algae. Widely used in swimming pool disinfection, drinking water disinfection, aquaculture, wastewater and industrial circulating water treatment, tableware disinfection, food and cosmetics production equipment disinfection, medical and health and entertainment environmental disinfection and other fields.
1,3-Dichloro-5,5-Dimethylhydantoin is mainly as a bactericidal, algicide, can effectively kill all kinds of bacteria, fungi, Virus, algae, hepatitis Virus, with high stabilization, high content, blandand light odor, slow release

Sensitive to exposure to light, air, and moisture. Reacts with water or steam to produce toxic and corrosive fumes.

1,3-Dichloro-5,5-Dimethylhydantoin reacts violently with xylene. 1,3-Dichloro-5,5-dimethylhydantoin is incompatible with strong acids, easily oxidized materials, ammonia salts and sulfides. 1,3-Dichloro-5,5-Dimethylhydantoin will react with water or steam to produce toxic and corrosive fumes. At a pH of 9, 1,3-Dichloro-5,5-Dimethylhydantoin decomposes completely.

Moderately toxic by ingestion. Mildly toxic by inhalation. A severe slun irritant. Mutation data reported. Avoid excessive contact because of effects of active chlorine on skin. Some of the hydantoins are central nervous system depressants. Mixtures with xylene may explode. Wdl react with water or steam to produce toxic and corrosive fumes.
