Acenaphthene is one among a number of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) on U.S. EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) priority pollutant list.
PAHs are compounds containing multiple benzene rings and are also called polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons.
Acenaphthene is used as a dye intermediate, pharmaceuticals, insecticides, fungicides, fluorescent pigments, and in manufacturing plastics, polyester resins, polyester fibers.
