Application:

5-Aminolevulinic Acid Hydrochloride (5-ALA HCl) (CAS: 5451-09-2), is a prefix compound of substance constituting heme, cytochrome, and vitamin B12), and is an essential substance for biosynthesis of chlorophyll, heme, and vitamin B12.
(1) 5-ALA HCl is a new type of photoactivated pesticide with high environmental compatibility and high selectivity. It is widely used in agriculture.
(2) Plant growth regulators. Recent studies have shown that 5-ALA has the following effects: regulating chlorophyll synthesis; improving the stability of chlorophyll and light-harvesting system II; improving photosynthesis efficiency to promote photosynthesis; promoting plant tissue differentiation and inhibition Basic physiological activity such as breathing in the dark and expanding stomata. Therefore, it is not simply a biological metabolic intermediate, but also involved in the regulation of plant growth and development. It has physiological activity similar to phytohormone and can be used as a plant growth regulator in agricultural production.
(3) Green herbicides. Herbicides produced by 5-ALA can kill weeds of dicotyledonous plants, but are harmless to crops such as grains, wheat, barley, etc., which are mostly monocotyledonous plants, and have selective herbicidal action. There are two principles of action: the first gene that inhibits GluTR and prevents the synthesis of 5-ALA, so that the plant eventually dies due to the lack of 5-ALA. 5-ALA synthesis in mammals does not pass through the C5 pathway, so the use of such herbicides does not adversely affect the human body. The second can relieve the regulation mechanism of 5-ALA synthesis and promote the synthesis of 5-ALA. For example, acifluorferr methyl can inhibit the synthesis of heme in plants, so that 5-ALA and porphyrin compounds accumulate in large quantities, which induces peroxidation under illumination. . However, since the market price of 5-ALA is relatively high, and it is required to use a higher mass concentration as a herbicide, the cost is large, and it is difficult to directly apply it at a time.
(4) Insecticides can cause imbalance of in vivo biochemical metabolism of various pests such as housefly, cockroach, etc., thereby causing cockroaches and even death of pests, and research on porphyrin insecticides using 5-ALA as a main component. In the source area of the Chinese rice borer, all the males in the treatment group died within 7 days, while the number of male deaths in the control group was about half, and the number of female deaths did not differ significantly at low concentrations. The principle is: 5-ALA activation can produce reactive oxygen species, and the insects can be converted into radioactive insecticides by plant photosynthesis or by triggering the cytochemical synthesis of pests. This study shows that it is a non-polluting natural substance that is biodegradable without causing pest resistance. A new type of green insecticide can be developed.
(5) Medically, 5-ALA HCl as a new type of photodynamic drug, not only for the treatment of local or systemic skin cancer, but also for the diagnosis of bladder cancer, digestive tract cancer, lung cancer, etc.
