Anacetrapib is an orally active and potent cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor for the treatment of atherosclerosis, in particular dyslipidemia. Anacetrapib does not elevate blood pressure, alter electrolytes, or cause any significant side effects. Anacetrapib has been shown to inhibit CETP activity and thereby raise high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol and decrease low density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol.
