2,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde (CAS 4460-86-0) is mainly used as a pharmaceutical intermediate for the preparation of Asarbrain. α-Asarone is mainly found in the volatile oil of natural products such as Acorus calamus, which has calming, prolonging hypnotic and antibacterial effects. Clinically, it is mostly used for the treatment of chronic bronchitis, epilepsy, coma and other mental diseases. 2,4,5-Trimethoxybenzaldehyde is used in the synthesis of stilbene and hydrostibene derivatives as potential anticancer agents, inhibiting tubulin. Also used in the synthesis of HIV-RT inhibitors. 2,4,5-Trimethoxybenzaldehyde (Asarylaldehyde), a COX-2 inhibitor, significantly inhibits cyclooxygenase II (COX-2) activity with an IC50 value of 100 μg/mL.
