7789-23-3 - Application:

Potassium Fluoride (CAS: 7789-23-3) has a salty taste and is poisonous. It is deliquescent. It is soluble in water, but insoluble in alcohol. Potassium fluoride is basis raw material of manufacturing fluoride. Its aqueous solution is alkaline and can corrode glass and porcelain, so it is usually used as a variety of glass etching, welding flux, wood preservative, agricultural pesticides, pesticide intermediates, pharmaceutical industry raw materials and organic fluorinated raw materials, in the construction, chemical industry, agriculture has an indispensable role.
A fluorinating agent of an organic compound, a catalyst, an absorbent (absorbing HF and moisture), and the like. It is also a raw material for the preparation of potassium hydrogen fluoride.
Potassium Fluoride is used in organic synthesis as a catalyst for various reactions, or to introduce fluorine into organic molecules.
Potassium Fluoride is still one of the most commonly used fluorinating agents, and it can be said that there is no vigorous development of fluorine chemical industry without potassium fluoride. And potassium fluoride as the most important period of the reaction activity of the fluoride agent, as a fluoride agent, especially in the production and application of fine chemicals, high activity Potassium Fluoride has the incomparable advantages of ordinary Anhydrous Potassium Fluoride.
Potassium Fluoride and Sodium Fluoride are more easily dissociated in various solvents. Since fluoride ions (F-) are easily formed, they can be used as fluorinating agents for organic compounds, in particular as fluorinating agents for halide exchange processes.

7789-23-3 - Reactivity Profile:

Potassium Fluoride (CAS: 7789-23-3) reacts with acids to evolve corrosive and toxic hydrogen fluoride. Aqueous solutions corrode glass and consequently are prepared and stored in polyethylene containers. The pure solid may be stored in glass containers. Reacts violently with (Pt + BrF3). [NTP 1992].

7789-23-3 - Health Hazard:

TOXIC; inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.

7789-23-3 - Fire Hazard:

Non-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes. Some are oxidizers and may ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated.

7789-23-3 - Safety Profile:

Poison by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. Moderately toxic by subcutaneous route. Experimental teratogenic effects. A corrosive irritant to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. Mutation data reported. A very reactive material. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of K2O and F-. Used in etchmg glass, as a presewative, as an insecticide, and in organic synthesis. See also FLUORIDES and HYDROFLUORIC ACID.

7789-23-3 - Toxicity:

This product is toxic, LD50245mg/kg. It is irritating to the skin and eye mucosa. The operator must wear protective equipment. See aluminum fluoride for details Protection Measure.
