Tetrabutylammonium Fluoride Trihydrate (TBAF 3H2O; TBAF Trihydrate) (CAS: 87749-50-6), quaternary ammonium salts, is widely applicated as phase transfer catalyst in chemical research. Quaternary ammonium salts have wide applications in many areas, such as organic synthesis, sterilization and disinfection, oilfield auxiliary, medicine, pesticide, aquaculture and so on.
TBAF 3H2O is a mild base used in reactions like aldol-type condensation reactions, Michael-type reactions, ring-opening reactions. Its is also used as a promoter in cross-coupling reactions and cyclization of carbocycles and heterocycles.
TBAF 3H2O is used as a phase transfer catalyst, as a mild base and as a source of fluoride ion in organic solvents. It is also used as a deprotecting agent to remove silyl ether protecting groups. TBAF 3H2O acts as a reactant for the preparation of deprotecting agents, in preparation of cellulose derivatives, lipophilic peptides for DNA transfections in vivo and Dehydrobromination reactions.
TBAF 3H2O is an inexpensive fluorinating agent for the synthesis of 6-fluoropurine and its derivatives, it is an important pharmaceutical intermediate with good biological activity. In addition, TBAF 3H2O is a useful intermediate for the synthesis of sulfur.
A reagent that cleaves silyl ethers and other silane-based protecting groups; catalysts that catalyze the reactions of various Silicon complexes.
