(+)-6-Aminopenicillanic Acid is used as the main starting block for the preparation of numerous semisynthetic penicillins. 6-Aminopenicillanic Acid (6-APA) is the core component of a penicillin β-lactam antibiotic. It is used as a precursor for antibacterial compound ampicillin and amoxicillin. Further, 6-Aminopenicillanic Acid serves as apharmaceutical intermediate. In addition to this, it is used in antibiotics research and experimental application.
