311-28-4 - Application:

Tetrabutylammonium Iodide (TBAI) (CAS: 311-28-4) is a quaternary ammonium salt used in phase-transfer reactions. It is also used in regioselective ether cleavage reactions and as a source of iodide for nucleophilic displacement reactions.
Tetrabutylammonium Iodide is a commonly used phase transfer catalyst, which can increase the reaction rate or effectively promote a variety of chemical reactions. The reagent can be used as an iodine source to generate iodides needed for the reaction in situ, which can avoid the use of some unstable and expensive iodides. In addition, this reagent is also widely used in the dealkylation reaction of esters and ethers.
Tetrabutylammonium Iodide is an organic ammonium compound, which can be used as a phase transfer catalyst and polarographic analysis reagent. TBAI as a phase transfer catalyst can effectively promote the alkylation of nucleophilic substrates such as alcohols, amines and phospholipids. In the two-phase reaction system, TBAI is more important as a phase transfer catalyst to promote the reaction.
Used as polarographic analysis reagent. Ion pair chromatography reagent, phase transfer catalyst.
Tetrabutylammonium Iodide is used in the preparation of novel quaternary amines. Organic synthesis.
